hotrodders.com is a great place and I have gotten lots of help and ideas from the site. The site, has a great knowledge base, a SUPER bulletin board filled with nice people, Wiki tech articles and more. This group/forum is dedicated to just V8 Bugs, and is filled with very nice and helpful people, and several project. Be sure to join the group and post an interduction!
This group is for Volks Rods, or VW hot rods in general, but there are some V8 beetles on the site, and if nothing else you can get some ideas from other cars.
This is just a VW group, but they are nice people and won't think your horrible for making a V8 beetle
